Frequently Asked Questions
What types of commands can I add to my Chain with the Tableau connector?
The Tableau connector uses Tableau’s REST API. This API allows you to add users, build data and hyper extracts, manage datasources and views, and manage permissions, projects, groups, and sites.
What information do I need to collect from my Tableau administrator so I can use these commands in my Chain?
You will need to work with your Tableau administrator to create an integration user within Tableau whose credentials can be used for the connection authentication. Your Tableau administrator will also need to provide the base URL for your Tableau instance, the site ID (case-sensitive), and your Tableau’s API version.
Are their prerequisites if I am using a GroundRunner and would like to use commands that utilize the Tableau Extract API?
Yes, you must install the Tableau Extract API files and move its DLL files to a folder used by the registry. Tableau’s documentation for installation is located at https://help.tableau.com/current/api/extract_api/en-us/Extract/extract_api_installing.htm. This task often requires the assistance of your Tableau administrator and the server administrator.
